The Courtyard of the Gentiles returned to Pope Francis with its Children's Train.
On Saturday 30 May 2015, the new "Children's Train" reached Pope Francis. Organised by the Courtyard of the Gentiles, the voyage is offered to children in difficult situations. This year, for the third time, the Gruppo FS Italiane, the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato, provided a train that arrived at the Vatican State station with boys and girls on board, children of men and women who are imprisoned in Rome, Latina, Bari and Trani.
This year the Courtyard of Children has chosen as its theme the idea of "Flight", as it wants to offer them a day to "fly away" and escape with fantasy from their daily reality, the confines of the prison wall and forced separation from their families.
The train came in to the Vatican station around 10.40am and the children and their helpers went to meet Pope Francis with coloured kites, for as Cardinal Ravasi has written "this is the symbol of possible passage from inside the prisons where the mothers live to the outside, the land of families".
